Your mother gave you the “hair loss gene”

You are at the table with your whole family, close relatives, and extended family. They eventually bring up the subject of hair loss. You hear bits of their conversation, and one thing that remains with you is that hair loss is something hereditary that is passed down from generation to generation on your mother’s side of the family.

But is this true? The only truth from this affirmation is that, indeed, hair loss is a hereditary condition. On the other hand, there is no scientific evidence to suggest that your mother’s or father’s genes are to blame.

More than that, researchers are still not even sure what specific gene is causing hair loss. There are some studies that have found that the AR gene is strongly related to the pattern of male baldness.
