How important is caffeine?

One of the most important conclusions from the study is that caffeine didn’t seem to affect how well coffee prevented the production of amyloid plaques.

Caffeine was frequently the focus of earlier research on coffee’s impact on the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, such as a 2012 study from the University of Florida that discovered greater levels of caffeine in the bloodstream of those who developed Alzheimer’s compared to those who didn’t.

According to the most recent research, the molecules produced when coffee beans are roasted—phenylindane—might actually be at work. This discovery may eventually lead to the development of a therapeutic or preventative measure for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
