2. Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer among women in the US. This disease can affect men too, but it’s far more common in women.

Research funding and substantial support for awareness have helped generate advances in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. As a result, breast cancer survival rates have increased, and there are currently fewer people who die from this disease.

Signs include thickening, irritation, redness, dimpling (which may make your skin look like an orange peel), or scaliness of the skin on your breast; a new mass or lump in your armpit, breast, or around your collarbone (most lumps don’t cause any pain, but some may be tender or painful); swelling in your breast; nipple discharge that isn’t breast milk; pain in your nipple or breast; and nipple retraction (a nipple that’s turned inward or “dented”).

These signs don’t necessarily mean you have breast cancer. That’s why it’s very important to have your doctor or a breast specialist check it.
