C. difficile (Clostridioides difficile/Clostridium difficile)

You would think that if you take probiotics when you are under antibiotic treatment, you would not have any problems with your stomach from the treatment with a lot of medicines. However, while your stomach may not develop some problems, there is a risk of developing C. difficile in your colon, which is going to infect it and leave you with a nasty infection. Generally, there are communities of microbes in your gut that prevent infection with this drug-resistant disease, but due to prolonged antibiotic usage, they can end up not being able to stop the bacteria anymore.

C. difficile, which is also known as Clostridium difficile, Clostridioides difficile, or more simply C. diff, is a bacteria that will give you symptoms that are similar to those of severe diarrhea and, if left unchecked, can even cause colon inflammations that can prove to be life-threatening!

Why is C. diff so dangerous, and what are the symptoms? Click on Next to find out!
