Dry and itchy skin

It’s not that uncommon for your skin to feel dry or itchy, especially when it’s cold outside. Keeping your baths and showers as short as possible and making sure you moisturize properly while your skin is still damp should do the trick.

However, people who suffer from chronic skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis or eczema might experience these symptoms way more often and in a harsher manner. However, some of these patients might itch because of another underlying disease.

For instance, diabetes makes your skin more sensitive to itching, and so does lymphoma. Also, opioids and other types of medications might cause itching, as do thyroid disorders. In most cases, dermatologists have enough knowledge to tell the difference between one type and another.
