Watch out for plastic!

You are likely to get your produce in a plastic bag from the aisle, or it may come prepackaged in some plastic, and the best course of action is to get it out of it! Plastic is known for trapping moisture and creating condensation, which in turn may be the reason why your produce is spoiling so fast.

Instead, you should opt for paper bags, as those will also absorb excess moisture, or just store them as they are in the fridge’s drawers. Mushrooms are some of the veggies that will fare great in paper bags, while something like celery will end up storing for longer if you wrap it in aluminum foil before placing it in the drawer.

Speaking of the crisper drawer, you should make sure that the vents for it are closed; this will ensure that the inside of it remains humid, which in turn will keep veggies fresh for longer.

If you are looking for some affordable standard-size paper bags, we recommend these ones you can get from Amazon!
