7. Herbal Tea

No matter how tasty a cup of herbal tea can be first thing in the morning if you’re going to the lab for a test, it is advised to avoid drinking it.

Its ingredients, even if they are simple herbs can mess up with the results. Believe it or not, particular herbs can change blood sugar and fat levels.

8. Chewing gum

Most people chew gum after a meal. So there is no point in chewing gum first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. However, because we can’t possibly know every person’s habits, we recommend staying away from gum (especially those with high-sugar ingredients) before a blood test.

The digestive enzymes can be sped up by them, and studies have shown that even sugar-free versions harm several blood parameters.

  1. I’ve only heard of some of the suggestions when fasting was necessary. I was told for most tests you want things as normal as possible so they can see what your levels are under normal circumstances.
