2. Constant pain

This is one of the early signs of a root canal that are hard to ignore, despite a lot of us being great at ignoring toothaches until they become unbearable. This type of pain related to root canals can end up appearing out of the blue, then continue to be consistent over a period of time, or it may be recurrent, coming and going in the same spot at different times.

This type of pain is not the usual one: it can resemble the deep, dull pain in the bone of your tooth, or it may manifest as referred pain, which means you will feel it in your other teeth, your face, and even radiating through your jaw!

Despite this, toothaches may have a myriad of different causes besides the appearance of a tooth canal! Other causes include:

  • cavities,
  • a damaged filling,
  • a number of gum diseases,
  • a tooth that is infected,
  • referred pain caused by a sinus infection or other type of health issue.

While this pain can be caused by different dental issues, one thing is for sure: You need to make sure that you get a dentist appointment as soon as possible, especially if this type of pain has been persistent and bothering you for a while.

The faster you get to see a specialist, the better, as you can get to the root of the problem, and, as it generally happens, the faster the diagnosis, the better outcomes you can have!

If you experience severe tooth pain and your dentist appointment is later or even days away, you can relieve the pain with some over-the-counter medicine. This toothache relief kit is also used by the Red Cross, and believe us, it will help you get some relief until you can see a specialist!
