6. Alzheimer’s

As far as dementia goes, Alzheimer’s disease is the most common one. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, between 60 and 80% of dementia patients are diagnosed with this illness. Some of the early indications of Alzheimer’s disease are forgetting names and recent events, omitting personal hygiene, changing mood or attitude, and becoming disoriented.

Even though depression can be an early sign of this illness, it’s important to be treated independently as a disorder because it is not a component of the health issue itself. Some people mistake depression in older people for Alzheimer’s disease.

Brain cell death is a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease. As the illness becomes worse and worse, side effects such as confusion and mood swings are more likely to occur. This affection is more likely to develop among other people. However, there are cases where people develop this disease in their 40s or 50s, but this only affects 5% of patients.
