10 Reasons NOT to Exercise after 50

Exercise damages the joints.

If you’ve decided to exercise after 50, it’s worth mentioning that you will deal with some damaged joints sooner or later. As we already established, exercising is addictive, and you’ll oftentimes see endurance athletes trying to push through a repetitive motion no matter what.

Well, in most cases, it’s to the detriment of their own bodies. If you don’t have an issue with the idea of knee or hip replacements, yes, go ahead and run through the pain. Otherwise, you could consider taking a break now and then. It won’t kill you.

Exercise could cause premature aging.

We know that exercising outdoors is healthy, and we oftentimes recommend it ourselves, but not in excess. If you want to exercise after 50, don’t spend 13 hours outside, because it’s no fun.

Excessively wrinkled skin, which is even more accelerated by the free radical damage we mentioned above, is the number one reason why people look worn and aged. As we all know, the heart has a finite number of beats, the back can bend a finite number of times, and so does our skin.
