Surprisingly healthy habit: Skipping breakfast
Breakfast isn’t really mandatory, despite what you might have heard in the past. Even though it was once believed that skipping the day’s first meal leads to gaining weight, several more current studies have found the opposite.
Fasting, or periodically skipping meals, may help some folks lose weight. These eating schedules are known as intermittent fasting, and one of the most popular involves refraining from eating for 16 hours and eating for 8.
That leads most people to deviate their eating window back a few hours from 12 pm to 8 pm, basically skipping breakfast. More extensive studies have found intermittent fasting to be as reliable for weight loss as any other traditional diet.
A few animal studies suggests that it could have other benefits, as well. This includes things like reducing the risk of certain cancers and even extending lifespans. But we must note that those studies are yet to be repeated in humans.
