Almond milk

Almond milk is a very popular choice, and you can find it anywhere, from supermarkets to coffee shops. Its taste is mild and nutty, and it’s my personal favorite. The advantages of this milk rely on the fact that it is very low in calories and very versatile for drinking and cooking it.

However, although almonds are known to be a great source of protein, almond milk isn’t. So many brands are also sweetened and have a thickener known as carrageenan.

This thickener comes from seaweed, but it might be the cause of many digestive issues. Also, if you suffer from nut allergies, then it’s clearly not for you.

Almonds, as we know, need pollination for bees to grow, and there has been an ongoing concern about the demand for bees to pollinate all the almond trees that are used for producing milk, so it might represent some kind of threat to our environment.
