4. “You need to calm down!”
Hospitals are not the friendliest places; we all know that. By this, we mean that going to the hospital with a health problem is not a walk in the park. No one is happy to see a doctor, especially when they know there is something wrong with their health.
In stressful contexts, when they feel like they are under pressure, people react differently. Some of them can manage their emotions and act calmly, while others are more emotional and might end up crying or becoming angry.
This is exactly why doctors need to be experts in human interactions. You can never know how someone will react when they are feeling anxious or angry. The best thing a physician can do when they meet with a case like this is to give the patient time to calm down.
They should never yell at them or tell them to calm down. Doing this will only make things worse. The doctor should listen to what the patient has to say and take it seriously. After that, they can help the person find out the source of all the anger.
