6. Fatty fish (salmon, sardines, tuna)Â
Fatty fish is one of the healthiest additions to any type of diet because it contains omega-3, which is very important for good heart function. It has also been proven that salmon can improve blood sugar control and blood lipids in diabetic cases.
Be careful to cook it properly, as in baked, not fried, and try serving it with a mix of green vegetables such as broccoli or lettuce. I’m on my way to eat this for dinner tonight!
7. Beans
Every time I say beans, I always think about chili con carne. In case you didn’t know, beans are an excellent option for diabetics. They are a great source of plant-based protein, and they satisfy your appetite for carbs because they are healthy carbs.
Beans are also low on the glycemic index scale and, compared to other starchy foods, are better for lowering blood sugar. They are so versatile that you can add them to your stews or wrap them with other vegetables if you prefer a meatless dish.
Amazing, right? Are you a fan of beans?
