Shift work disorder

Did you know that shift work will actually give you sleep problems? It is actually a very real problem that people who work night shifts have to deal with, and if this is the reality for you and you also seem to have difficulties with your sleeping pattern, then it may be that you have developed this disorder.

People who suffer from this disorder due to working nights or rotating shifts end up developing it because they are going against the natural workings of the biological clock: being active when most of their peers are asleep. This is because their bodies cannot adapt properly to such a schedule and when they do get to rest, it is not of good quality, which will leave them groggy and with less energy, as well as mentally lethargic.

This disorder leaves you open to getting injured or not being as productive as you should be. So if you have noticed that you haven’t gotten a good night’s sleep in what seems like ages and you’re working in shifts, you should definitely check in with a doctor or try to reduce the impact the shifts have on you.
