#5 You Aren’t Getting Enough Sleep
As in many other cases, when we are talking about your health in general, sleep is one of the most important factors.
Sleep is essential for the health of your immune system and brain, and getting enough is linked to a decreased risk of many chronic diseases, including cancer and heart disease.
Additionally, getting adequate sleep is important for appetite management because it controls the hormone that stimulates appetite, ghrelin. You may feel more hungry when sleep-deprived because lack of sleep raises ghrelin levels.
A study found that, compared to participants who slept for 8 hours, 15 people who were deprived of sleep for only one night felt considerably more hungry and picked portions that were 14% bigger.
Leptin is a hormone that increases feelings of fullness, and getting enough sleep enables optimal levels of this hormone to be present.
It’s typically advised to have at least eight hours of undisturbed sleep per night to maintain your hunger levels under control.
