2. Sun Stress

Even before making a thorough medical investigation, there’s one factor that can affect your skin by weakening its defenses: ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Sun exposure can have a negative effect on your skin and even cause cancer.

Whether it’s natural sunlight or in the form of artificial means like tanning beds, ultraviolet rays trigger blood cells to rush to the exposed area in an effort to repair it. This is basically how sunburns appear.

Overexposure to UV can result in moles, darkened blemishes, and even skin cancer. The most effective way to fight sun stress and UV rays is to apply sunscreen every morning.

To maximize protection against sun damage, you can also wear sun-protective clothing and sun hats, especially during hot summer days. Interestingly, some recent studies have shown that certain nutrients may have the ability to increase the skin’s natural sun protection.

For instance, fruits rich in vitamin C and antioxidants (like pomegranates and strawberries) may help protect your cells against oxidative damage caused by sun exposure.

Don’t forget that consuming these foods doesn’t substitute for wearing sunscreen.
