In December 2003, Buckingham Palace stated that her Majesty would go through surgery in order to remove damaged cartilage in her left knee. The intervention took place a year after she had an identical operation on her other knee.
The Queen needed a few weeks to feel good again, and she needed plenty of rest to restore her energy levels. The doctors decided to perform the surgery in December in order to reduce the impact on her commitments and also to give her the possibility to continue the recovery process at Sandringham over the Christmas and New Year period.
Even though Queen Elizabeth II died and the United Kingdom experienced an incredible loss, we can say that she managed to make her country strong and appreciated all over the world! Besides that, we’re also sure that, although she is no longer with us, her memory will live forever!
