Candy

As if sodium intake wasn’t enough for you to worry about, here we come, adding sugar to the list as well! According to research by JAMA Internal Medicine, sugar is also responsible for creating heart issues.

High sugar predisposes individuals to inflammation, diabetes, and increased cholesterol. All these factors can greatly contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Sugar and any alternatives raise your risk of obesity. So, cardiologists recommend we avoid sugar in any form.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol moderately won’t necessarily bring on any heart issues unless you suffer from high blood pressure or high triglycerides, a kind of fat located in the blood that can increase your odds of heart disease.

Heavy drinking, however, can lead to high blood pressure, strokes, heart failure, and weight gain. So if you’re not really a drinker, don’t start now!
