Consider intermittent fasting… but don’t bet on it

Why should you adopt this anti-aging habit? Dietary restrictions, or greatly reducing the number of daily calories consumed without causing malnutrition, can extend the lifespan of numerous organisms.

But there haven’t been any long-term studies in humans. So researchers can’t guarantee that if you calorie restrict your entire life, you’ll live 10 years longer. They just don’t know yet. Still, fasting has become very popular as a weight-loss technique and health trend.

Many have tried intermittent fasting by following a 16:8 eating plan for only eight hours. They find it easy to follow.

But take note: you might be discouraged by a study published last year that saw the plan wasn’t practical for weight loss and didn’t enhance metabolic health markers.

We’re not saying we’re against the idea of time-restricted feeding or other kinds of fasting or even reducing your calorie intake. But the whole ordeal might get a bit complicated. And some find the notion of alternate-day fasting particularly hard.

Others even get grouchy when they don’t eat. It might be okay for a few hours, but you can start going wild with the hunger. So intermittent fasting isn’t for everyone!
