1. You’re Dizzy or Short of Breath Often
Without enough vitamin B12 or iron, the body is unable to produce enough hemoglobin, a specific type of protein that’s essential to the functioning of red blood cells. This protein, which is packed with iron and gives blood its red color, allows oxygen to bind up to the cells so they can transport it to the tissues that need it.
Some parts of the body won’t receive the oxygen they need if there isn’t enough vitamin B12 or iron to produce adequate amounts of hemoglobin. The result: Some anemia symptoms include having shortness of breath and sometimes getting so little oxygen to your brain that you feel lightheaded or dizzy.
