Diabetes Myth 5: You can just feel when you have low blood sugar, there’s no need for the test!
This one is probably the funniest diabetes myth: you can feel that you have low blood sugar, but that is generally because you are starting to feel bad and are crashing because of it. Or it could be that your symptoms that are associated with low blood sugar (dizziness, feeling shaky, and feeling lightheaded) may be caused by a run-of-the-mill cold or the flu.
Other symptoms may be symptoms of other health-related issues, such as infections or other problems. The longer you live with diabetes, the less accurate those symptoms you were using at first to identify low blood sugar are going to be.
No matter what, if you want to have an accurate reading of your blood sugar, you need to test it using the devices at your disposal. Do not miss out on it, as either having too low or too high blood sugar levels is going to create problems for you.
