Skeletal system
People with multiple sclerosis have a much higher risk of suffering from osteoporosis because of all the common MS treatments (steroids) and inactivity. Weakened bones can make these patients more susceptible to fractures and breaks.
Even if conditions like osteoporosis might be prevented through physical activity, diet, and even supplementation, weak bones can easily make MS balance and coordination problems much riskier.
However, there’s more and more evidence that vitamin D deficiencies might have a great impact on the development of MS. Even if its exact impact isn’t yet determined, vitamin D is still highly important to skeletal health, but also immune system health.
