Over 6 million Americans are living with heart failure. The condition kicks off when something damages the heart or impairs its ability to pump properly. This is usually a result of a heart attack or coronary artery disease.

It’s an unfortunate truth that the human body slows down as we age and, starting with the sixth and seventh decades, the process speeds up. Climbing more than a couple of stairs can now feel as daunting as a long hike.

While some degree of vitality loss can be associated with natural aging, breathlessness and fatigue may also be signs that your heart isn’t working as well as it should. According to experts, there’s a general tendency for people to overlook heart failure signals and attribute them to just getting older.

Unfortunately, that’s wrong. If you feel any kind of discomfort or pain, it’s important to seek medical help as soon as possible. In most cases, those signs that are ignored are in fact related to heart failure.

By themselves, any one symptom of heart failure may not be a reason for concern. However, if you start noticing more than one of these signs, even if you don’t know yourself to have cardiovascular issues, report them to your doctor and ask for an evaluation of your heart.

Without further ado, here are 7 early signs of heart failure in seniors!
