Australian Study

There may be a connection between how much coffee people consume and how quickly their cognitive abilities deteriorate, according to new Australian research. The study was published most recently in the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience.

It has been hypothesized in prior studies that coffee may lessen the prevalence of cognitive problems. The goal of the new study’s authors was to dig a bit deeper into this topic.

The research team is based in Perth, Western Australia, at Edith Cowan University. The researchers followed the study participants for more than ten years using information from the Australian Imaging, Biomarkers, and Lifestyle (AIBL) longitudinal study.

The study included 227 people who were 60 years old or older and were not experiencing cognitive decline. The researchers employed a questionnaire to get answers from the participants regarding how much and how often they drank coffee.
