5. Increased Heart Rate
It’s perfectly normal for your heart to race when you’re excited or nervous, or to add or skip a beat once in a while. However, if you feel like your heart is out of its usual rhythm for more than just a few seconds, this may be a signal that something’s wrong.
Now, doctors point out that an irregular heartbeat is usually caused by something easy to fix, like not enough sleep or too much caffeine. But occasionally, it could indicate heart failure.
You may feel this because your heart isn’t getting a proper amount of blood, which weakens it and causes it to beat faster. Basically, the heart beats faster to make up for the loss in pumping capacity.
But an increased heart rate can be counterproductive, as it allows less time for the blood to fill the ventricles. Also, a very fast heart rate can damage the heart muscle over time.
