#1 Do Not Neglect Your Sleep
We know everyone sings the praises of getting a good night’s sleep, but unfortunately, it is one of the best ways in which your body can recover. While you are sleeping, your body is regulating itself, making sure to regenerate any cells and other molecules and cells that are responsible for inflammation and regulating the ones in charge of the immune response of your body. It is vital that you get good rest at night so your immune system can strengthen naturally.
Furthermore, a lack of sleep and rest may raise cortisol levels throughout your body, causing your system to react slowly to any illnesses or injuries you may have. If you have trouble sleeping or ignore the need for sleep, you are more likely to become ill. For example, adults who suffer from insomnia are more susceptible to getting the flu, despite the fact that they got the vaccine against it.
As a result, the National Sleep Foundation strongly recommends that all adults get between seven and nine hours of sleep a night, with that margin potentially increasing as we age. This is the easiest way in which you can make sure your immune system is fighting alongside you and not against you.
