Deodorant and antiperspirant benefits
Two main reasons to use deodorants are smell and moisture. Here’s what you need to know before we discuss misconceptions about deodorants:
Moisture: Sweaing is your body’s cooling mechanism to help you shed excess heat. Our armpits have a higher density of sweat glands than any other body area. And most people want to reduce their sweat since it can soak through clothing.
Smell: Your sweat itself doesn’t actually have a strong odor. It’s the bacteria on your skin which breaks down sweat that produces the odor. The damp heat of your armpits is an excellent environment for bacteria.
The sweat from your apocrine glands, which are located in the groin, armpits, and nipple area, is high in protein, which is easier for bacteria to break down.
