#5 DEA (diethanolamine)

Diethanolamine, which is more commonly known as DEA, is a type of additive that is used in a lot of skincare products. More specifically, lauramide DEA and cocamide DEA have been used in those products that create suds or have a really creamy texture.

However, DEAs can be really dangerous if used in too much quantity, especially if we are talking about DEA-related skincare ingredients such as triethanolamine (TEA) and monoethanolamine (MEA). Studies have shown that these two have caused liver cancer in test mice that have been exposed to them at high dosages, making people very weary of this ingredient.

The most common products that you should check for DEA, MEA, and TEA are cleansers, soaps, foundations, lotions, sunscreens, household cleaning products, and shaving creams!
