7. Avoid constipation

Constipation, or too much stool in the colon, can put stress on the bladder and prevent it from growing as it should. This may be avoided by eating a lot of high-fiber meals, such as vegetables, whole grains, and fruits, drinking enough water, and engaging in regular physical activity.

8. Keep a bladder diary

Keep a bladder journal of how frequently you use the toilet and how frequently you drink water during the day if you believe you urinate excessively. Keep this journal if you experience urine incontinence episodes as well, to show your doctor any potential contributing variables.

9. Be aware of the medications you take

While you may think it’s safe to take medications since they’re on a prescription from your doctor, it’s important to know what their ingredients are. Some of these could increase the likelihood that your bladder will leak urine. For instance, drugs that help you relax or fall asleep may also block the nerves in your bladder, making it so you don’t feel the desire to use the restroom.

To prevent urinary incontinence, it’s important to talk to your doctor about all the medications you take. And if you sense that something is wrong, report it immediately!
