Onions

It might sound odd, but the mesh-like material from pantyhose allows just enough air to reach the onions, which helps them stay fresh. Just slip your onions into some nylons, tying a knot between each bulb.

Vegetable storage tip: Use a new pair of pantyhose so that your next stew doesn’t smell like feet! This goes for garlic, as well. Just be sure to store them in a cool, dark, dry space, but separate from other foods because of their intense odors.

Peppers

Here’s another fantastic vegetable storage tip you might not have known about: Always store peppers at room temperature. Butt remember that they can be kept in the fridge for about 1 to 3 days if you intend to use them soon after removal from the refrigerator.

Bell peppers keep for a long time in the freezer. Diced, strips or whole. I have had 1 in the freezer for about a month using a freezer container. Not a wrinkle on that baby.

A whole avocado in a container with water to the top will last a long time in the refrigerator as though you just bought it. Make sure you change the water periodically.
