Bananas
If you’ve been keeping your bananas in the fridge, we’re here to give you a better fruit storage tip! Take out green bananas from the refrigerator and let them ripen on your counter or a banana hanger if you have it.
Ethylene gas is again the offender here. But separating each banana from its bunch and covering each stem in plastic wrap can stop the spread of this harmful gas.
If they’ve already gotten too ripe for your taste, peel them and store them in the freezer for an easy addition to your next smoothie.
Celery
Unlike a plastic bag, putting celery in some foil will allow ethylene to escape. When ethylene is entrapped inside a plastic bag, it causes moisture loss and spoilage to occur quickly. Did you know about this vegetable storage tip?
