CVS rocks. Always have had the best service, the best selection of brands, generic when I have to – even branded generic equivalents- you need the best, they will have it in stock, ready, no questions asked except for, Name? If they don’t know you, How are you? Do you have any questions? Maybe a verification question- address , phone number- if they don’t know you… and otherwise just kind small talk.
I WISH we had a CVS here. I moved, and now the closest is an hour away.
So to Walgreens, I am SICK ABOUT THIS! At 1st everything was fine. Now, they’ve lost all but 1 pharmacist who is trying to retire and openly admits he doesn’t really give a shit… 7 days week went 9-7 went to M-F 9-6 closed weekends. Then they closed the drive through, and are closed Wednesdays. Then they went to Tues and Thurs hours 11-4, Mon & Fri 9-6 but closed from 12 to 2.
So to be clear, they’re open 24 hours– TOTAL PER WEEK! They stopped answering the phone altogether. My meds are “backordered” constantly. Right now I’m on day 44 of the 20 day supply given on September 8th, and both of their vendors have my meds in stock in my region, 100%
I called, emailed, barked up every tree in the woods and found out definitively they are not out of stock, at all.
Here’s the catch — I’d switch to Rite Aid, Osco or Walmart except that I get 7 medications. 3 are controlled substances C-II, C-III & C-IV, 4 are not, but I am Epileptic and I have had the medicare approved geneote test, which determine I’m a rapid metabolizer, and confirmed what my immunologist already knew: I’ve got a hypersensitivity to many medicines and their inactive ingredients.
1 of them I go into anaphylactic shock if not noticed by someone who gives my EpiPen shot. Milder instances are still anaphylaxis, not shock, but pretty damn bad just the same — Bronchospasm, Angioneurotic Edema, Pruritus, etc and it’s not a good thing when pharmacies start randomly switching manufacturers..So if course my doctors write “name of manufacturer medically necessary” And Walgreens is the ONLY one aside from CVS who has the meds I need. But now their supply issues, and this 24 hours PER WEEK is not okay. The other day, they were listed as open on the website and app. I called, can never get through to the pharmacy but the store manager, yes– Confirmed YES pharmacy is OPEN today until 6. my parent’s have to drive because I can’t – haven’t been allowed to get a license due to my epilepsy for many years… So they get there, and it’s closed – sign said emergency, temporarily closed.
They called and told me, I called back and spoke to the same store manager — got a spoon full of lies and how they had to close early. at 3pm instead of 6pm.
The other nearest Walgreens is worse if you can believe that. Same exact issues, but the pharmacist is a royal A-HOLE to boot…

A very happy CVS customer in city with no CVS and a HORRIBLE Walgreens
CVS in Fremont California is the worst pharmacy we’ve ever encountered. Long, long lines to drop off or pick up a prescription. They always lose or claim they never got a fax from the doctor. Your prescriptions are never ready when promised. Most of the time you have to return the following day to pick up your prescription. They even tried to substitute a generic med for a name brand and were to charge $200 for a $13 generic, claiming there is no generic, which I’ve been using for 2 yrs. Needless to say I switched to Optum Rx.
After years of paying too much at CVS , my family changed to Costco , prices for most of our meds were ranging from $98.00 -$175 at CVS ,even using Good RX, at Costco for same prescriptions are $7.50- $24.00 , that’s a Big savings retired seniors.
