We all know that saying: ”An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Even though we are all sick of it, it’s true. Apples are high in dietary fiber and polyphenol chemicals, which work along with gut bacteria to generate an environment that may assist to lower cancer risk. Apples have been linked to a decreased incidence of estrogen receptor-negative (ER-) breast cancer in observational population studies.
Generally, people who regularly consume fruits, or apples especially, have a lower risk of developing many types of cancer. This may be a result of the variety of nutrients and compounds it contains that provides a layer of protection against diseases.
