Secondary liver cancer symptoms (cont.)
We have mentioned ascites and jaundice among the side effects of liver cancer. If this is where cancer spreads, you may end up catching these two diseases before you realize that there is something wrong with your liver, so you should be able to pinpoint the signs that you have any of these and know when to contact your doctor to catch it before it is too late.
Ascites is a condition where you end up with a lot of fluid built up in your abdomen. This happens when fluid builds up between the two membranes in your stomach that make up the peritoneum, which covers your organs. Fluid can end up building there, which can cause you to feel uncomfortable and even give the impression of bloating.
The reason why fluid builds up there can be because cancer spreads and causes irritation to the stomach, which causes the secretion of the fluid; your lymph glands do not get drained properly; or many other reasons caused by the spread of the cancer cells and their intrusion into your organism.
Jaundice is a sign that your liver is no longer working properly, which can also mean that your bile ducts are blocked. The most common symptom of jaundice is the yellowing of the whites of the eyes and the skin, dark urine, and pale feces, along with itchy skin.
