1. Seborrheic Keratosis

Seborrheic Keratosis is a brown spot that appears on our bodies as we age. It is common to develop multiple spots, so that is why it’s really important to have them checked to prevent the possibility of developing skin cancer. They are harmless, and most people don’t need treatment for them.

2. Age Spots

Age spots are also called liver spots. These are little and black patches, often appearing on exposed skin areas like the face, hands, shoulders, and arms. Even though they are more common among people over 50, they can still happen to younger people who spend a lot of time outdoors. For prevention, daily use of sunscreen is essential.

3. Actinic Keratosis

Actinic keratoses are crusty growths that are brought on by ultraviolet light. The light can come from the sun or artificial sources. No matter their reason for appearance, once you notice them, visit your doctor as soon as possible. If left untreated, they can develop into cancer!

4. Cherry Angioma

Although you can get these tiny red growths or bumps anywhere on your body, your back, belly, and chest are the most common areas where you can get them. They aren’t painful, but if scratched, they might bleed. Some good news is that if you don’t like how they look, you can ask your doctor to remove them with a laser.

5. Skin Tags

Skin tags might be the weirdest. These tiny tissue flaps can hang from your skin. They aren’t good-looking at all, and the most common areas of your body where they might appear are in your armpits, around your groin, on the back, chest, or neck. They can get itchy if your jewelry or clothing rubs on them, but keep in mind that they aren’t dangerous.

6. Solar Elastosis

Long-term sun exposure can result in deep ridges, pimples, and a yellowing of the skin. It affects people with lighter skin more often. If you have this condition, it’s very important not to smoke. The sun affects just the first layer of the skin, while tobacco smoke damages the deeper layer.

7. Spider Veins

Your legs, ankles, and feet are common places for these little bundles of damaged blood vessels to become visible. A blood backup, hormonal fluctuations, or an injury could be some of the causes. They aren’t a deadly issue, but they can burn. You can use some socks for compression, but if that doesn’t help, you might need a surgical intervention.

8. Itchy skin

Have you ever thought that itchy skin can be a sign of getting old? It is completely normal. When we age, our skin becomes dryer. If the itching persists for more than two weeks, please visit your doctor. Itching can also indicate kidney disease. Your doctor will let you know what you need to do and how to treat the issue.

9. Leg ulcers

Blood flow problems can cause serious problems, making your lower legs and feet get easily injured. You may develop an ulcer if you have a medical condition like diabetes that significantly slows down your body’s healing process. Also, please note that if bacteria gets to the affected skin, it can cause a serious infection.

10. Bruising

You get a bruise when a tiny blood vessel breaks. Usually, it happens when the vessel is near the surface of your skin. Aging makes our skin thinner, which is why bruises are more common after 50. You don’t need to worry about anything, but if more bruises suddenly appear on your skin, make sure to contact your doctor. Making sure that everything is fine when our body suffers changes is essential to preventing serious illnesses.

11. Contact Dermatitis

Everyone can get contact dermatitis, no matter their age. It’s a very painful condition and usually comes in two forms:

  • allergic: after you touch something you are allergic to (for example, a cat’s saliva or a scented laundry product)
  • irritant: things that bother your skin, like moisture (for example, diaper rash on a baby’s skin)

As we get older, this condition becomes harder to treat. Usually, for older people, medicated creams can also irritate.

12. Saggy Skin

The jawline and neck are often the most common places where someone can notice droopy skin. It is also called turkey neck, and it’s a very unpleasant condition, especially for women. Nobody wants to have old,  hanging skin around their face. Sunscreen and moisturizer are very important for saggy skin and can help hold it off. Also, exercising can do magic. If you are courageous enough, esthetical surgery is another option to get rid of it.

13. Wrinkles

Wrinkles represent one of the most common problems people face as they age. They show up, no matter what. All you can do is have a healthy diet, get plenty of sleep, and exercise regularly. Having a healthy lifestyle will slow down the process.

Some wrinkles can be removed with chemical peels, injections, laser treatments, and surgery.

14. Skin Cancer

Skin cells can be damaged over time and grow out of control. In this case, they usually become cancerous. One of the most common causes is exposure to the sun or tanning beds. Ultraviolet light can be very dangerous. Make sure you always use sunscreen!

Cancer cannot be treated at home, so if your skin cells become cancerous, you should find the treatment that works best for you after talking to your doctor. You may need pills, surgery, or chemotherapy. It’s important to treat the condition as quickly as possible, so don’t hesitate to call your doctor if you feel something isn’t right.

The importance of SPF in preventing dangerous skin conditions

You probably noticed how important it is to use screen protection to prevent serious skin conditions. On Amazon, you can find one of the best SPF 70 sunscreen lotions from Neutrogena. It is a beach defense water-resistant for the face and body.
