7. Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a cancer that develops in the lymphatic system, which is responsible for your body’s immune system that fights infection. In non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, white blood cells known as lymphocytes multiply abnormally and can result in growths (tumors) throughout the body.
Signs include enlarged lymph nodes, which usually feel like lumps under the skin; feeling exhausted all the time; losing weight with no purpose of doing that; a swollen abdomen; fever, chills, or night sweats; pain or pressure in your chest; a cough that doesn’t go away or shortness of breath; feeling full after only eating a little; bruising or bleeding regularly; a severe infection or regular infections.
This disease is one of the more common types of childhood cancer, but it can affect adults, too. It can develop in different parts of the body, which means the telltale signs of the disease can vary.
For example, lymphoma in your abdomen can lead to swelling or pain in your gut, while skin lymphoma can cause itchy lumps on the skin. Some of the symptoms mentioned above can also be signs of infections that aren’t associated with cancer.
